I love hiking down to the bottom. I can't wait to go back! I'm glad there is a Tribe for this. Hope more people join. Especially people who lived and worked there as well.

Hi All. I'm a river guide here in Cali, and I went down the "big ditch" last year for the first time with a private group. If you have any aspiration to raft down the Canyon, I recommend going non-commercially- you can go for 18 days and it's way more fun. A lot of private groups will take you if you offer to pitch in and help with camp set-up, take down, cooking, etc even if you don't know how to row or kayak... although that's definitely a bonus (and if you have those skills, you should be helping anyway). If you post on www.gcpba.com, you can sometimes get on a trip, which will cost about $700-$1200, much less than the commercial fees of $2000! Super fun. It's the most beautiful trip you will ever do. If you love the Canyon, you must GO!!!

hi everyone ~
this is a shot in the total dark ... here's my story ...

in a nutshell... I had 36 hours to go over 600 miles ...

I was sooo priviledged to co-pilot a 5 passenger sensa for the 1st time in my life (without prior knowledge for ONLY 50 bucks) through the Palisades desert, the Navajo Reservation, Badlands, Monument Valley, the Vermillion cliffs/Pariah Canyons, Rainbow bridge and valley, all over aerials of Lake Powell and ...
ended up hiking through Antelope Canyon for 3 hours before heading back by car to the Grand Canyon South Rim airport ... in transit back to Las Vegas, to make it to an "official" company xmas dinner by 6pm the next day ....

700$ in the hole later ... I saw much MORE than the most phenominal sights I'd already planned to visit in such little time ...

taking a breath .....

after ALL that ...
500 SPECTACULAR photos later ...
at the moment when I finally reached South Rim the airport to catch my flight to Vegas
... it ended SO sadly ... I LOST my (1st time used) digital CAMERA with ALL 500 memories/photos of my ENTIRE journey in it !!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

since I travelled all this distance on my own ... my ONE and ONLY opportunity to SHARE this experience with ANYONE had totally vanished ~!~

what does that all mean ? what was my lesson in all this ?

I have NO idea ... but I guess it means we shouldn't cling to memories ?
frankly ... the grim reality is that our memories are only as fresh as we are ageless ...
I was so motivated to visually share this journey with my loved ones ... and even with myself since it all happened so FAST ...
it was like a dream !!!

perhaps THAT was my lesson ... slowing down ... because as soon as I took my eyes off it for a few minutes ... it disappeared ...

ALL THIS TO SAY ..... I just want my photos back ... that camera was valued at 400 bucks ... it was a gift ... but replacable ...
NOTHING can possibly replace the look on my face in that cock-pit for 3 hours, my arms reaching out for the sun in Antelope canyon, or the hundreds of shots I took ...

As ridiculous as it may seem to most people, I REFUSE to give up hope until I've done everything in my power to exhaust the possibilities.
Whether I was insured or not (I wasn’t), the value of the 500 photos I took in 36 hours (and over 600 miles) are worth FAR more to me than the camera itself.

so ~*~ sigh ~*~ I'm STILL praying for a miracle ...
two days after arriving back home to Montreal, Canada, I faxed notices with my number on them to the airport and asked them to post them there.
I've been calling there almost daily since I lost it on December 4th ... and even taking an ad out in the town's weekly paper starting next Wednesday, the 15th Dec 04.

THE BIG QUESTION :
Does anyone know of a place online where I could place a notice to the Grand Canyon South Rim community ???
